Why not class it up this year and shove your nose into a nonfiction book? Surely this must be on your resolutions list, right? Just reading one of these books will give endless talking points for an entire year. Hey, you might just learn something. Or feel something.

Apparently Shatner is a caring friend and observer who wrote the biography of fellow Trekkie and friend, Leonard Nimoy. Let's hope this one is good, for Shatner's sake. 

The Gene by Siddhartha Mukherjee

Pulitzer Prize-winning author of The Emperor of All Maladies, Mukherjee does it again with this mind-blowing history of the human gene, and how it evolved. He answers some insane questions about human heredity and why we are who we are.

Everything Is Teeth by Evie Wyld

This graphic novel is a deeply moving memoir about love, loss, and, what it means to be part of a family. And, the best part, the nonfiction part of this novel? There are a lot of cool sharks.
