Watch John Oliver Slay the Absurdity of America's Marijuana Laws

On Sunday's "Last Week Tonight," host John Oliver argued on behalf of the "catnip for people," AKA weed. From banking restrictions to Lady Gaga quotes being hijacked by Attorney General Jeff Sessions and taken out-of-context, Oliver touched on many issues currently plaguing the emerging and still quasi-legal marijuana industry, and discussed how America's conflicting state and federal drug laws have created a true blue clusterf*ck for cannabis entrepreneurs and enthusiasts.

"If you have marijuana right now, even if you are acting completely legally according to your state, you may still be in serious jeopardy," Oliver said. "And that's not your weed-induced paranoia talking."

Oliver's conclusion is morose, infused with humor, and right on the money. Despite more than half of the country having enacted some form of legal marijuana, the drug still sees a federal classification as a Schedule I narcotic.
