Sticks and Stones: 10 Sick Visions of Where Sexy Meets Styley
Ainsley Hutchence is a rare bird. I stumbled upon her and husband Sebastien Fougere's Instagram page a few years back, and boy did I immediately become obsessed. They run this dope little community called Sticks and Stones Agency: Think provocative, forward thinking, sexual, and artistic. The images they curated sucked me in. I couldn't stop looking; I stalked even. I went back further then you are ever supposed to admit looking, let alone liking, on a person's page. (I mean there are rules to this type of shit.)
Sticks and Stones all began as a creative agency, a vestibule to connect creatives of all types. Sort of how a modeling agent would represent a model, Ainsley and Sebastien wanted to aid in the growth of artistic types, pushing them to reach the next level in their careers.
Ainsley soon realized that she had launched much more than she bargained for. The images she was posting of her and Sebastien were gaining buzz like an avalanche gains momentum. People were hooked; they loved the irony, the fun, the creativity, the ever-changing hair color and styling choices in every photo. Picture Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain on acid in the '90s.
The page soon became more about photography, and living true to that rock n roll lifestyle Ainsley and Sebastien so embody. Today, with the help of Ainsley, photographers from all around the globe are breaking out of their small towns in whatever state or country they live in and sharing their talent and creativity with all 273k Instagram followers.
To all of us photographers just looking to leave a mark on this earth, Ainsley is sort of a goddess. She welcomes all types. From beauty, to fashion, to sexual, to abstract, you can find a melting pot of the best of the best @sticks_and_stones_agency.
The audience has grown so quickly over the past few years, the website totally crashed more times than I can count, forcing Sticks and Stones to fully rebuild their platform so it can withstand the onslaught of the Internet hordes. Ainsley has an eye, and her eye is for shit that literally breaks the internet.
Read on.... I need to see what's new on the website.
The Kind: It's obvious in every photo that you and Sebastian are soulmates! How did you meet, and how long have you been together?
Ainsley Hutchence: We met just more than eight years ago in a cafe and have been living together since a couple weeks after that!
The Kind: You guys are super stylish and unique. Where do you find inspiration?
Ainsley Hutchence: We don't really have style icons or anything like that. We both just know what we like, and wear that. Recycled and DIY mostly! As I get older, comfort seems to be getting more important, which is why in many of my Insta pics I'm wearing an oversized tee, L/S shirts and kimonos to cover up my weird fucked-up elbow (broke it when I was 8). And no pants is key! :)
The Kind: Rock and roll or edm?
Ainsley Hutchence: I had to google EDM, so rock 'n' roll :)
The Kind: Meat eater or vegetarian?
Ainsley Hutchence: Vegetarians. Fish sometimes. Penis almost every night :)
The Kind: Describe your perfect day.
Ainsley Hutchence: Sebastien, beach, good book, vodka cocktail, huge lunch, afternoon sexy time, vodka cocktail, huge dinner, good movie, snuggle sandwich with Sebastien and our cat, Bear.
The Kind: I feel like you have a dream closet. If you had to choose, what's your favorite piece?
Ainsley Hutchence: This changes a lot. At the moment, I would say it's a tossup between my 'DIY by Panida' mustard velvet kimono with customized sleeves (which I can't wear atm coz Australia is soooooo fucking hot rn) and my Discount Universe long sleeve stripy sheer top.
The Kind: Finish this sentence: We smoked a joint, and then we....
Ainsley Hutchence: Had the best sex of our lives and ate till we passed out. Literally the only reasons we ever smoke!
The Kind: Favorite place to visit in the U.S.?
Ainsley Hutchence: Derek Perlman's house :) L.A.
The Kind: How was Sticks and Stones born?
Ainsley Hutchence: We started a clothing label a couple weeks after we met, fell in love and moved in together. This eventually turned into a fashion agency that we called Sticks & Stones Agency. Just over 18 months ago, we decided to start a blog. Now we just do that! Sticksandstonesagency.com!!!!
The Kind: Whats your guilty pleasure?
Ainsley Hutchence: Sometimes I have really, really hot long showers. Sorry, Earth! That's just where I do all of my best thinking, and I forget to hop out!
The Kind: What's the shittiest job you've ever had?
Ainsley Hutchence: I've been pretty lucky here. I have never had a job that I thought was shitty at the time. But I suppose in hindsight, de-hairing brushes and rollers at a local hair salon when I was 13 is pretty rank!
The Kind: Ultimate girl crush?
Ainsley Hutchence: Lindsay Lohan! Not totally sure why?
The Kind: If you could see anyone in concert, living or dead, who would it be?
Ainsley Hutchence: First off it would be a sit down concert! Probably Michael Jackson.
